About Bush Diary

Robert Clarke, journalist, writer and avid outdoorsman, seemed the ideal fit for a nature programme which would seamlessly combine the spirit of adventure with an educational mandate designed to inform the wider public about the natural heritage of Trinidad and Tobago. Robert is cast in the role of explorer journeying to some of this country’s most remote locations to learn more about wildlife and the complex ecosystems that support them.

Indeed, in some cases, Robert is learning along with the viewer as not enough is known about our unique wildlife habitats and the creatures that inhabit our mangrove swamps, forests, plains and marine environments. Of paramount importance in these adventures is the message of conservation.

The Bush Diary crew is a small outfit, comprising host Robert Clarke, cameraman Rajnauth Lal and producer Paolo Kernahan. The idea for Bush Diary was conceived by Paolo many years ago while he worked as a broadcast journalist. It was very clear to Paolo that, while there were many fascinating stories that needed to be told about the natural world, these stories simply could not compete for space in prime time news. Bush Diary is the expression of that desire to expose the people of Trinidad and Tobago to their surroundings and the wildlife that they share this wonderful place.
